This Raspberry Pi Camera Module is a custom-designed add-on for Raspberry Pi. It attaches to Raspberry Pi by way of one of the two small sockets on the board upper surface.

It has an OmniVision OV5647 5MP CMOS sensor that provides still images of 2592 x 1944 pixels and a video stream up to 1080p30. It is sufficient in most applications: image at regular intervals (time-lapse to observe the growth of plants or astronomy for example), microscope, landscape, video surveillance and more.
